When it comes to the workshop- Impactful Communication there are lots of generic examples that can be drawn in Sri Lanka. E.g.: the lack of Assertiveness, the inability to; say ‘no’, asking for information, saying there is a problem…
Also, the concern of translating directly from Sinhala to English where the language may come off as rude.
Moving on to leadership, specifically in Asia, managers aren’t usually able to have a professional and effective feedback conversation, followed up with Coaching. Having difficult conversations can be challenging and is a key module in Leadership Communication.
For Fonterra, we focused on the Procurement and Sourcing Management Teams customizing the workshop uniquely to the requirements given.
The workshop began with the basics and progressed to address the more ‘heart to heart’ between the Leader and Team Member.
The days were broken down to:
ME: The Leader Within– Participants deep dived into themselves. their own personalities, SOPs, values and ethos.
US: The Leader Beside and Behind – Participants understood ‘association’ and ‘community’ and the fundamentals of effective communication to help build trusting, collaborative relationships.
